This paper presents the cost advantages of employing object storage in a cloud service for Continuous Data Protection (CDP), Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC), in conjunction with an on-demand recovery environment, versus a redundant recovery environment without object storage.
The intended audience for this paper is the service provider seeking to enable a DR/BC service offering for their end customers’ on-premises VMware-based data center(s). The purpose of this paper is to provide these service providers a mechanism for comparing the costs of different approaches to maintaining and operating an infrastructure for DR services.
