Google Compute Engine DR with JetStream Orchestration
JetStream Disaster Recovery Orchestration provides businesses with a reliable and streamlined approach for disaster recovery in Google Cloud. It ensures seamless protection of compute engines against regional or severe zonal failures by leveraging Google Compute Engine (GCE) Disaster Recovery off-host Persistent Disk Asynchronous Replication (PDAR) which can provide cross-region replication with sub-minute RPO.
Using JetStream Disaster Recovery DR Orchestration, organizations can confidently safeguard workloads while reducing complexity. The solution automates and manages the entire disaster recovery life cycle:
- Protection initiation and monitoring
- Status reporting
- Failover execution
- Test Failover for validation
- Seamless failback once the primary region is restored
Refer to this article for detailed information about Google Asynchronous Replication.
Google Asynchronous Replication provides the ability to replicate data for individual VMs or groups of dependent VMs through Consistency Groups (CG), ensuring that related workloads remain synchronized during replication. Building on this foundation, JetStream Asynchronous Replication Orchestration (ARO) automates the setup and management of asynchronous replication components, significantly reducing the operational burden on administrators.
JetStream ARO is an independent software package that can be purchased from Google Cloud Marketplace, with usage metering and billing managed through the GCP Marketplace. ARO software (orchestration appliance and its deployment scripts) is downloaded from the JetStream portal. ARO is implemented in the form of an Asynchronous Replication Orchestration Virtual Appliance (AROVA) running on “top” of PDAR.
