Protected VMs, Domains, and Aggregation Groups
Protected VMs across the cluster are logically organized into protected domains by group selection criteria according to parameters specified during plan generation. This facilitates the management and automation of protection of large numbers of VMs.
CPT collects and assigns VMs to protected domains by “aggregation group.” An aggregation group is ephemeral and not directly used for the assignment of VMs. Instead, it could be considered a “staging area” where VMs matching specified selection criteria are collected for assignment by CPT to protected domains. The collected VMs are analyzed by CPT which then recommends optimal assignments to protected domains based upon various specified and calculated data.
