Test Failover
To verify proper operation of failover and the infrastructure, "test failover" can be performed to observe recovery of virtual machines and their data from the object store to a test recovery environment.
A test failover resembles an actual failover of a Protected Domain, with some differences:
- All VMs will continue to operate uninterrupted in the protected environment; there will be no disruption to their normal ongoing operation or protection.
- During testing, data is replicated across the system as it would normally happen with failover; however, ownership of the Protected Domain is never passed to the recovery site.
- Test VMs and data will be deleted from the system at the conclusion of the test.
Note: Test failover can be performed on Protected Domains that are being protected using "Continuous Failover" (CFO) and "Continuous Failback" (CFB).
(Test failover is not applicable to Domains that use manual "Failback" or the point-in-time recovery function.)
