It is not mandatory to establish a service cluster at the recovery site prior to protection. The service cluster at the recovery site may be established during initial configuration or after an incident occurs as part of the recovery process. Compute clusters are added to the recovery site on demand, as needed. The system requirements for the recovery site are generally the same as for the protected site.
