In certain types of disaster incidents, when protected compute clusters fail, the result is data loss or corruption, but without significant harm to the primary site’s infrastructure. In this case, JetStream DR allows the affected protected domains to be recovered from the storage site and restored back to the protected primary site. This section describes how to restore VMs and their data back to the primary site.

Before restoring a protected domain, ensure the following:

  1. If the VMs are not accessible at the primary site, they must first be removed from the vCenter Server inventory.
  2. You can shut down the original DRVA that managed the protected domain.
  3. You can create a new DRVA where the protected domain will be restored.
