Networks with the following characteristics must be established at both the protected site and recovery site. Although each site is independent, they both must be able to access the object storage.

JetStream DR Management Server Appliance (MSA)

A management network is required for the MSA. This network is used for access to the JetStream DR RESTful APIs and making other data path calls. If a private network is available for connecting to the object store, this private network should be added to the MSA VM as a separate network. If no private network is available, make sure the management network can be used to connect to the object store.

Management Network:

Required.

External Network:
(for object store access)

A dedicated external network can be used; otherwise, data traffic will be sent over the management network.

JetStream DR Virtual Appliance (DRVA)

The network must be configured such that DRVAs will have access to: ESXi hosts, object storage, DR store, management server, and vCenter. Dedicated or shared network connections can be used.

Recovery (from Object Cloud) Virtual Appliance
(a.k.a., RocVA)

The RocVA is a temporary VM that is created as needed for VM recovery, then removed when it is no longer needed.

The network must be configured such that the RocVA will have access to: ESXi hosts, object storage, DR store, management server, and vCenter. Dedicated or shared network connections can be used.

A more detailed description of RocVA configuration is available in Chapter 10: Additional Information.

Object Store / Blob Storage

The object store/Blob Storage must be accessible from both the protected site and the recovery site.

Replication Log Volume

DR Virtual Appliances (DRVAs) and ESXi host(s) must have direct access to this storage.

⚠︎ IMPORTANT: DHCP is required for use by transient elements (specifically RVM, and RocVA if static IP is not configured for it).

Notes:
* RocVA can now be configured using DHCP or static IP addresses.

* Any required ports (e.g., port 443) should be opened at the source, the destination, and at all points in between.
