Details

VMs with delta disks cannot be protected.

If a VM to be protected does not have any snapshots but delta disks for it exist (e.g., a VM snapshot was successfully removed but its disk consolidation failed), attempting to protect the VM may initially appear to work, but the protection task will eventually fail.

If the disks can be consolidated, then it will be possible to protect the VM.

VMs with independent, non-persistent disks cannot be protected.

VMs with independent, non-persistent disks CANNOT be protected.

This condition is not indicated in the user interface and should be avoided.

VMs with shared disks cannot be protected.

VMs using any disk configured to be shared across multiple VMs CANNOT be protected.

VMs with RDM disks cannot be protected.
