Log into vSphere Web Client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">2. Right\u2010click the vCenter and select <em>&#8220;Export System Logs\u2026&#8221; <\/em><br><br><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"419\" class=\"wp-image-3558\" style=\"width: 350px;\" src=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/export-system-logs.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/export-system-logs.png 378w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/export-system-logs-251x300.png 251w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/export-system-logs-42x50.png 42w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-info wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon\">Alternately, you can click the <strong>System Logs<\/strong> button under the <em>Monitor tab<\/em>, and click the <strong>Export System Logs<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">3. On the selection screen that appears:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Select host(s) to collect log files from.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Select the option to <em>Include vCenter Server and vSphere UI Client logs<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Click the\u00a0<strong>Next\u00a0<\/strong>button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"512\" class=\"wp-image-3637\" style=\"width: 800px;\" src=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selecthosts.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selecthosts.png 920w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selecthosts-300x192.png 300w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selecthosts-768x492.png 768w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selecthosts-50x32.png 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">4. On the following step specify the individual logs to include in the bundle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Key log files are selected by default.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">In addition to system logs, <em>also include the \u201csidecarfiles\u201d log<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">If necessary, specify additional options including performance data parameters and encryption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Click the\u00a0<strong>Export Logs<\/strong> button. <br><br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"515\" class=\"wp-image-3588\" style=\"width: 800px;\" src=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selectlogs-1.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selectlogs-1.png 915w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selectlogs-1-300x193.png 300w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selectlogs-1-768x494.png 768w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/selectlogs-1-50x32.png 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-danger wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon\"><em>The sidecarfiles log for each host should always be included in exported support&nbsp;bundles.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-alert wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon\">Closing the vSphere Web Client while a log download is in progress will cancel the&nbsp;download. The log bundle generation process can take some time to complete. While the process is running it is possible to continue working in vSphere by opening a new instance of the vSphere Web Client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Command Line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A support bundle can be downloaded directly from the command line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">1. Access the ESXi host using SSH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">2. Log in using <strong>root <\/strong>credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">3. Generate the vCenter log using the CLI command\u00a0<strong><kbd>vc-support.sh<\/kbd><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"469\" src=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4574\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image.png 1000w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-300x141.png 300w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-768x360.png 768w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-50x23.png 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">4. The support bundle will be generated. It may take a few minutes for the task to complete. Use WinSCP to access the VCSA then go to the file location and download the support bundle file.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-danger wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon\">Support bundle files can be quite large and may become overwritten as new data is generated.
