{"id":2256,"date":"2023-02-24T18:04:19","date_gmt":"2023-02-25T02:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=2256"},"modified":"2024-04-24T15:46:02","modified_gmt":"2024-04-24T23:46:02","slug":"invalid-replication-log","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/jetstream-knowledge-base\/invalid-replication-log\/","title":{"rendered":"Invalid Replication Log"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"is-style-info wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon\">This article applies to all JSDR software versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The <em><a href=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/jetstream-knowledge-base\/what-is-replication-log-volume\/\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"3781\">Replication Log<\/a> <\/em>(RL) maintains a record of data being replicated to the object store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Issue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The replication log can become invalid in the following scenarios:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Failback After Planned Failover (PFO)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Resuming Continuous Rehydration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">After failover is complete and the DRVA on the failover site has taken <a href=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/jetstream-knowledge-base\/ownership-of-protected-domain\/\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"2498\">ownership<\/a> of the protected domain, the replication log of the protected site is no longer used and will become invalid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This example illustrates an invalid replication log section:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"636\" src=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-8-1024x636.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-8-1024x636.png 1024w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-8-300x186.png 300w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-8-768x477.png 768w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-8-50x31.png 50w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-8.png 1140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Considerations<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scenario 1: Failback After Planned Failover (PFO)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The original replication log can no longer be used because it contains no free space leaving it in an invalid state.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The section used by PFO can be deleted to release disk space on the replication log which can then be reused.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scenario 2: Resuming Continuous Rehydration<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The original replication log can continue to be used, or it can be deleted allowing the freed space to be repurposed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Delete Replication Log Section<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Use the <em>Delete Section<\/em> option to remove an invalid section from the replication log.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"979\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-9.png 979w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-9-300x104.png 300w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-9-768x267.png 768w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-9-50x17.png 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 979px) 100vw, 979px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Replication Log (RL) maintains a record of data being replicated to the object store.
