{"id":3808,"date":"2024-01-18T14:37:19","date_gmt":"2024-01-18T22:37:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=3808"},"modified":"2024-08-29T10:24:13","modified_gmt":"2024-08-29T18:24:13","slug":"what-is-test-failover-tfo","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/jetstream-knowledge-base\/what-is-test-failover-tfo\/","title":{"rendered":"What Is: Test Failover (TFO)?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"\">To verify the failover configuration and infrastructure, a <em>&#8220;test failover&#8221;<\/em> operation can be performed to observe recovery of virtual machines and their data from the object store to a test recovery environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A test failover resembles an actual failover, with a couple key differences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">The VMs will continue to operate in the protected environment, so there will be no interruption to their normal ongoing operation or protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">During testing, data is replicated across the system as it would happen with normal failover; however, ownership of the protected domain is never passed to the recovery site.
