This problem can occur if the <a href=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/jetstream-knowledge-base\/rvm-rocva-and-test-vm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RocVA<\/a> is set up to utilize DHCP and it encounters problems obtaining an IP address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"762\" height=\"222\" src=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/failover-timeout.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5950\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/failover-timeout.png 762w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/failover-timeout-300x87.png 300w, https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/failover-timeout-50x15.png 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 762px) 100vw, 762px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Example showing a timed-out Failover task waiting for an IP address.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-danger wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon\">RocVAs can be configued using either static or DHCP IP; however, <a href=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/online-docs\/jsdr-admin\/rocva.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it is imperative for RVMs to use DHCP-assigned IP<\/a>.<br>Issues with the DHCP lease may cause the following operations to fail: Failover, Failback, Continuous Failover, Planned Failover and Test Failover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resolution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Check if the network segment selected for JetStream appliances has enough DHCP reservations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">If the number of DHCP reservations are OK, make sure the MSA can communicate with the Recovery Appliance.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">MSA and RocVA Appliance communication can be verified using the <strong>nmap<\/strong> command:<br><kbd><strong>nmap -p 32878 &lt;RocVA_IP><\/strong><\/kbd><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Example<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><code>[root@fs087-msa1 ~]# nmap -p 32878 10.40.4.120<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><code>Starting Nmap 5.51 ( http:\/\/nmap.org ) at 2023-11-29 16:33 UTC<br>Nmap scan report for 10.40.4.120<br>Host is up (0.0027s latency).<br>PORT STATE SERVICE<br>32878\/tcp closed unknown<br>MAC Address: 00:50:56:A8:9E:6E (VMware)<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><code>Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 4.74 seconds<\/code><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-alert wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon\"><strong>MSA and RocVA must be able to communicate via port 32878<\/strong>.<br>If there are connectivity issues via port 32878, coordinate with your networking team to enable the port.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Issue The failover task fails due to a time-out error while waiting for recovery appliances that fail to obtain an IP address.
