{"id":6690,"date":"2025-02-25T14:56:33","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T22:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=6690"},"modified":"2025-02-25T15:06:35","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T23:06:35","slug":"js-tools-automation-toolkit-vm-ip-not-reachable","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/jetstream-knowledge-base\/js-tools-automation-toolkit-vm-ip-not-reachable\/","title":{"rendered":"JS-Tools (Automation Toolkit) VM IP Not Reachable"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Issue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">After deploying the <a href=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/jetstream-knowledge-base\/jetstream-dr-automation-toolkit\/\">JetStream DR Automation Toolkit<\/a> (JS-Tools) OVA with a static IP, the VM IP may not be not accessible or fails to load the <a href=\"https:\/\/jetstreamsoft.com\/portal\/online-docs\/automationtoolkit\/CapacityPlanningToolCPT.html\">CPT<\/a> UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Troubleshooting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Verify the network configuration:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Establish a puTTy session to connect to the JS-Tools VM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Check the network configuration by viewing the file:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><kbd><strong>\/etc\/sysconfig\/network-scripts\/ifcfg-default-conn<\/strong><\/kbd><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Look for the following settings:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><kbd><strong>BOOTPROTO=dhcp<\/strong><\/kbd> (should be set to <strong>none <\/strong>for static IP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">A missing <kbd><strong>GATEWAY<\/strong><\/kbd> setting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Modify the network configuration:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Edit the <kbd><strong>ifcfg-default-conn<\/strong><\/kbd> file:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Change <kbd><strong>BOOTPROTO=dhcp<\/strong><\/kbd> to <kbd><strong>BOOTPROTO=none<\/strong><\/kbd><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Add the <kbd><strong>GATEWAY=&lt;IP><\/strong><\/kbd> entry with an appropriate gateway IP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Save the changes and restart the network manager by executing the command:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><kbd><strong># systemctl restart NetworkManager<\/strong><\/kbd><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Perform additional configuration checks (if needed):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">If the JS-Tools VM is still not reachable, further validate the <strong><kbd>ifcfg-default-conn<\/kbd><\/strong> file:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Ensure that <strong><kbd>IPADDR<\/kbd><\/strong>, <strong><kbd>GATEWAY<\/kbd><\/strong>, <strong><kbd>NETMASK<\/kbd><\/strong>, <strong><kbd>DNS1<\/kbd><\/strong>, and <kbd><strong>DNS2<\/strong> <\/kbd>entries are correctly configured.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Restart the network manager services again if any changes where applied:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><code><kbd><strong>stemctl restart<\/strong><\/kbd><\/code><strong><kbd> <\/kbd><\/strong><code><kbd><strong>NetworkManager<\/strong><\/kbd><\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resolution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The above steps should resolve any issues related to JS-Tools communication ensuring the CPT UI and JS-Tools VM are reachable.
