Re-IP Fails After Failover or Failback

This article applies to all JSDR software versions.

Problem

After completing failover or failback, Re-IP does not occur as expected.
The following condition can be observed:

  • Check the log files to debug the issue:
    /var/log/lin-change-ip.log and /var/log/vmware-imc/toolsDeployPkg.log
  • If the Linux VM has more than one config file, the log file will indicate:
2025-01-25 05:08:09,798 - Found more than one configuration file for device $iface. Won't make any changes. Exiting.
    • Re-IP will not change the IP if there is more than one config file.
    • For Linux VMs, verify the file: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
Simultaneous existence of two config files: ifcfg-ens192 and ifcfg-ens192.bak.

Solution

  • Before starting failover or failback, confirm if multiple configuration files exist.
  • If more than one config file is found, rename/delete extraneous ones from the VM.
    • Only one valid config file should exist for each VM.
