This is an overview of the AROVA managed protection process. Under normal circumstances, the protection status transitions through three states:

Initializing

    • During the Initializing phase AROVA configures asynchronous replication for VM disks by creating a Consistency Group, adding  primary disks to it and creating associated secondary disks.

Initial Sync

    • After Initializing is complete, the following state is Initial Sync.
      • During Initial Sync, pre-existing data and with newly generated data are replicated to the secondary disks.
      • While in this state, VMs are not recoverable because the secondary disks are not yet consistent.

Recoverable

    • After Initial Sync, the VMs become Recoverable.
      • Recoverable protection status is indicated for Recovery Groups, the VMs contained within them, and independent VMs.
        • Current RPO values are calculated and displayed.
      • Protected VMs can now be recovered.
