The priority level number is also used to identify protected domains that should use write-back protection mode.

  • Selection and Sequencing: The priority level number is used to specify protected domains to failover using CFO and control the order the failover tasks are performed. For example:
    • CFO will be performed on protected domains assigned priority level values 2 and 4. The protected domains assigned priority level value 2 will be failed over first, then the protected domains assigned priority level value 4 will be failed over next. Any protected domains assigned priority level value 1, 3, or 5 will not use CFO.
  • Selection: For write-back (WB) operations, the priority number is used for selection purposes only (e.g., Using the command priority_WB_mode to select protected domains with a matching priority value). For example:
    • An Execution Plan is configured for priority level values 1 and 5 to use write-back mode. Only VMs in protected domains with priority 1 and priority 5 values will be protected using write-back mode. VMs in protected domains assigned priority level value 2, 3, or 4 will use write-through mode (default).
