Important Notes Before Starting Protection
Important things to consider before starting JSDR protection:
- Azure Storage account (blob storage) with Hierarchical namespace enabled is not supported.
- If customer uses Azure blob storage, it has objects retention policy. Default policy is 7 days. It is recommended (but not mandatory) to set objects retention policy to 1 day for this release. Setting retention policy requires extra configuration step.
- User must establish a secure communication channel between the DR object storage site and both the protected site and recovery sites.
- Essential services including LDAP, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP should be established as per the JetStream prerequisites list on the Protected site and Recovery site.
- If a customer updates a production cluster from version 4.1.14 (or earlier versions) to version 4.1.16 (or beyond) it is recommended to restart CFO at the recovery site (but not protection itself). Starting from version 4.1.16, improvements have been made to garbage collection metaspace utilization at the recovery site. Without restarting CFO, some number of obsolete garbage collection metadata will not be discarded. It may cause garbage collection metaspace overflow.
