Three segments: Shared management, dedicated internal data, and dedicated object replication segments

Figure 4: Three network segments – Management, external data, and internal data.

  • This configuration adds a dedicated network segment for internal data (IO filter traffic between ESXi hosts, DRVA(S), RocVA(s), ISCSI between RocVA and RVM during recovery operations).
    • Not applicable for AVS deployments as the ESXi hosts are on a restricted/hidden network and cannot be configured to directly connect to a user created network segment.
    • DHCP is required on this internal data network for RVM as they are deployed during restore operations.
      • Ensure that the DHCP IP address range is equal to or larger than the total number of VMs being recovered simultaneously.
      • Each RVM requires an IP address and represents one VM being recovered.
  • JetStream MSA, DRVA, and RocVA virtual appliances are connected to the shared management network segment.
  • DRVA(s) will be deployed with 3 network interfaces.
    • Each DRVA requires 3 IP addresses (1 per network).
      • Management
      • External Data
      • Internal Data
    • Requires additional gateway/routing planning and configuration for each network segment.
  • RocVA(s) will be deployed with 3 network interfaces.
    • Each RocVA requires 3 IP addresses (1 per network).
      • Management
      • External Data
      • Internal Data
    • Requires additional gateway/routing planning and configuration for each network segment.
  • RVM(s) will be deployed with a single network interface connected to the internal data network segment.
  • MSA continues to access object storage for management/orchestration operations using its single network interface attached to the management network segment.
