No special actions are required by the user to add a new disk to an independent VM while protection is enabled.

AROVA monitors and detects changes to disks and will automatically start protection for a newly added disk. AROVA will assign a newly attached disk to the protected VM's existing Consistency Group (CG).

Important considerations when adding disks:

    • Disk scope zonal/regional and specific zones must match the existing Recovery Group’s VM disk scope and zones exactly.
    • The number of disks in the CG must not exceed its maximum allowed limit.
    • AROVA will not start protection for a newly attached disk that does not meet all the requirements for the Recovery Group, CG, and asynchronous replication.
      • AROVA will flag the VM’s protection status as "Error" and send notification.
