Hot-add Disk to Protected VM in Recovery Group
No special actions are required by the user to add a new disk to a VM in a Recovery Group while protection is enabled. AROVA monitors and detects changes to disks and will automatically start protection for a newly added disk. AROVA will assign a newly attached disk to the Recovery Group’s existing Consistency Group (CG).
Important considerations when adding disks:
- Disk scope zonal/regional and specific zones must match the existing Recovery Group’s VMs disk scope and zones exactly.
- The number of disks in the CG must not exceed its maximum allowed limit.
- AROVA will not start protection for a newly attached disk that does not meet all the requirements for the Recovery Group, CG, and asynchronous replication.
- AROVA will flag the VM’s protection status as "Error" and send notification.
