A Protected Domain ("Domain") is a failover and failback unit – it typically represents a multi-VM virtual application and can be considered a "grouping" that defines a set of protected VMs.

Note: VMs belonging to one virtual application should generally be grouped together in a specific Domain as a Recovery Group. However, the Domain may also contain unrelated "independent" VMs, if necessary.
