Protection Process
After VMs have been selected for protection (Recovery Groups and Independent VMs) the following protection process occurs.
- Protection status indicates "Initializing."
- During the Initializing phase, AROVA prepares for PDAR by creating CG and secondary disks.

- After initialization, AROVA next enters the "Initial Sync" phase and begins disk replication.
- A Recovery Group will continue in Initial Sync status so long as any of its VMs remains in this state.
- During Initial Sync, pre-existing data and newly generated data is replicated.
- At this point, the VMs are not recoverable because their secondary disks are not yet consistent.

- RPO is not available for VMs of the RG and they cannot be recovered yet.

- Independent Protected VMs (not belonging to an RG) will also have Initial Sync protection status and no RPO.

- When Initial Sync is complete, the protected VMs can be recovered.
- Their protection status will be updated to "Recoverable" and a current RPO value will be indicated.
