Failover Modes of Operation
JetStream DR failover can be operated in two different modes:
- Failover is typically used in response to a disaster event where a Protected Domain is replicated to a recovery site and then all the protected VMs of the Domain are recovered together. Failover steps are configured and performed together during the same session.
- Continuous failover can be initiated at any time to replicate Protected Domains to a recovery site prior to any disaster and then be allowed to run in the background during normal system operation. When a disaster event occurs, continuous failover is “completed” to immediately transfer ownership of a Protected Domain to the recovery site (near-zero RTO).
