Figure 3: Two segments – Shared management and dedicated external replication network.

  • This configuration adds a second network segment for external object replication traffic.
  • Compatible with any JetStream deployment (AVS or on-premises).
  • Separates internal traffic from external replication/recovery traffic for DRVA and RocVA
    • DRVA and RocVA will be deployed with 2 network interfaces.
    • Each DRVA or RocVA requires 2 IP addresses (1 per network)
      • Management
      • External Data
    • Requires additional gateway/routing planning and configuration for each network segment.
  • All traffic types except external data replication traffic continue to flow via the management network segment.
  • All JetStream appliances are connected to the shared management network segment.
    • DHCP is required on the shared management network for RVM as they are deployed during restore operations.
      • Ensure that the DHCP IP address range is equal to or larger than the total number of VMs being recovered simultaneously.
      • Each RVM requires an IP address and represents one VM being recovered.
  • MSA continues to access object storage for management/orchestration operations using its single network interface attached to the management network segment.
  • Suitable for sites using virtual disk(s) for DRVA replication log volumes.
