Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) is a complementary function to failover that lets the user recover, test and restore VMs and data from a "last known good" point of time in the past. To use PITR, Protected Domains must be constructed with PITR capability enabled. Metadata is collected during protection that allows VMs and data to be rolled back to a specific point in time specified by the user.

Note: PITR supports rollback of data in vDisks. It does not roll back VM configuration changes that happen across the PITR window. Any VM configuration changes lost from rolling back to a prior point in time must be manually reapplied after the PITR session has been completed (e.g., VM configuration changes such as disk add, remove, detach and disk grow, etc.)
