When necessary to restore VMs using Point-In-Time-Recovery, a PITR session must be started to create an environment for rolling back and testing the VMs for recovery. A PITR session can be started automatically following failover or continuous failover or it can be manually started.

Note: When entering a PITR session, the protected domain should be in a "consistent state" (i.e., the remaining background data is 0 and the current RPO is close to 0 seconds). If a PITR session is started when the domain is not in a consistent state, it will wait for the domain to become consistent before entering the PiTR session causing a delayed response.
