To roll back a PITR-enabled Protected Domain, a PITR session must first be started to establish an environment for rolling back and testing recovered VMs. A PITR session can be started automatically following failover or continuous failover or it can be manually started.

Note: Before starting a PITR session, the Protected Domain must be in a consistent state (i.e., the remaining background data is 0 and the current RPO is close to 0 seconds). If a PITR session is initiated before the Domain is in a consistent state, the session will be paused until the Domain become consistent. Operation will proceed normally, but the PITR session will start with a delayed response.
