JetStream DR can failback Protected Domains from a failover site to the primary site. This function is used to seamlessly move VMs and workloads that were failed over to a recovery site back to the original primary site

Failback performs the following:

    • Data will be copied and synchronized between the failover and primary sites.
    • VMs of the Domain will be powered off at the protected (failover recovery) site.
    • Ownership of the protected VMs will be shifted back to the primary site.
      • The primary site will become the protected site (assume ownership of the Domain).
      • The failover recovery site will assume the status of "remote site."
    • Temporary VMs used for the failback process will be cleaned up and final recovered VMs created.
    • DR storage policies will be applied.
      • Protection of the Domain will be resumed.
    • Failback runbook settings will be applied, and VMs of the Domain may be powered on at the primary site again.

Note: Different recovery types are appropriate in different situations. Review Configuration Use Cases and Key Concepts for clarification.
